Robert Downey Jr. has always been a great actor, but he was always cursed with his addiction to drugs. And he made one hell of a comback with his career afterwards. But, it wasn’t til “Iron Man” and “Tropic Thunder” that he really made a name for himself in a blockbuster film. And “Iron Man 2” has to be one of the most anticipated films of next year. Well, in an interview Entertainment Weekly, he told he may retire if “Sherlock Holmes” doesn’t perform well:
“I have no set plans for my future. I’ve never had it this good — this is my day in the sun — and I certainly don’t want to look a gift horse in the molars. But [my wife] Susan and I want to begin to be in our lives as much as we are in our jobs. I’d love just to sit here and say, ‘What movie’s playing tonight?’ I’d love to finish the new book about D-day I’m reading. I love painting, I love music. “
This could mean that if he was telling the truth and the film isn’t a success, then we may not see him in “Iron man 3” or “The Avengers”. But, to be honest People always say they will retire, but never do. It was said that Viggo Mortensen would retire from acting and he never did. I do hope he doesn’t, because RDJ just rules.
What do you think?
“Sherlock Holmes” will be released in theatres on December 25, 2009.
