It was just insane just how much money “New Moon” has made over the weekend. And like any film that makes money, some group of people have to say something about the film. It happened with Transformers 2, Angels and Demons, and now New Moon. The Vatican calls the New Moon “nothing more than a moral vacuum”. Jon Peters over at Killerfilm gives us this:
“This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that, as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element…This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern.”
I think the Vatican should just drop it already. Its only a movie. And nobody is going to listen to them in the end, especially the Twilight fans. Also, they said the same about early Harry Potter films, but said there sequels were just harmless entertainment. I do agree with them that teenage girls do take this franchise way to seriously. Hell, I was reading an article on Killerfilm that Serena wrote, and most of the female commenters were bashing her and on message boards.
But, what do you think of this? Should the Vatican learn to just STFU?
