It was reported earlier that “The Hobbit” may be delayed to 2012 and that delay may also effect the Blu-Ray release of “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy. But, now Collider interviewed Peter Jackson and now says that “The Hobbit” is still scheduled for 2011. Here is what he had to say on the subject of “The Hobbit”:
“You don’t want to believe everything you read on the internet.”
That’s so true what Jackson says. So, according to Jackson “The Hobbit” is still scheduled to be released in 2011, which I am glad to hear. But, what about the Blu-Rays?
“Well, it keeps changing. I am not the best person to ask about that believe it or not as I am not in charge of the Blu-ray, Warner Home Video is. I believe it is scheduled for sometime next year. They keep changing the date…I don’t know why. I’ve seen the Blu-ray as they sent it to me to approve and I looked at the film and it looks fantastic on Blu-ray but I don’t know the date.”
I have no doubt that the films will look great, but are they just gonna be the theatrical editions? Will they release both the theatrical and extended editions?
” I think so. Again, I’m not 100% certain actually, I could easily find out for you. I think they were just going to do the theatrical version first. “
That sucks. I’m just gonna wait to buy the extended editions than the theatrical. The theatrical editions are good, but I can’t watch those anymore. Not after I’ve seen the extended. So, I guess we’ll have to wait.
Are you glad to hear that “The Hobbit” won’t be delayed? And what are your thoughts about them releasing the theatrical editions on Blu-Ray first?
