However, the one thing that was on everyone’s mind was what direction would the film take place. Well, in an interview with Varitey Brian Singer tells us his plans for the film.
Thanks to Superherohype:
“This is the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where there relationship took a wrong turn,” Singer said. “There is a romantic element, and some of the mutants from ‘X-Men’ will figure into the plot, though I don’t want to say which ones. There will be a lot of new mutants and a great villain.”
I love how they are going into detail about how Xavier and Magneto went from friends to enemies. I’m pretty sure that Gean Grey will have something to do with plot, because if you remember from X3(I know, its hard, isn’t?) they were split on how Grey’s power should be used. So, maybe that will feature into the plot. I also hope that they introduce Quicksilver.
If they have a “great villain” in mind, maybe it could be Apocalypse(doubt it). They could feature the first team of X-men going up against a inferior version of the character and have him return in X-men 5(You know it will happen), or maybe Sinister.
Singer also comment that the film sounds similar to J J Abrams “Star Trek”, and had this to say about that:
“Whether it’s ‘Batman,’ ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘Star Trek,’ if the characters are good, you want to see them on their journey even if you know their destiny,” Singer said. “I put myself in the fan’s position, and I think this story is something I would want to see, and so will they.”
And that’s why Brian Singer is awesome when it comes to comic book films, that is. X1, X2, and Superman Returns were all great, and I can expect nothing more from this.
What do you think? Who do you think should be the villain for this film?
