However, an origins film about Magneto was one of the few that I was really looking forward to, but now it seems that the film is cancelled, but you shouldn’t be surprised. Singer said that “First Class” will cover some of Magneto’s back story.
Thanks to comicbookmovies:
“This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust,” the director tells The Hollywood Reporter. “But no, I don’t see an exhaustion [of the franchise]. The X-Men universe is boundless. These are great characters. And as young characters, they are quite different than the characters we have seen in the contemporary movies.”
Like I said, this isn’t surprising, but it is kind of a disappointment. I thought an origin film focusing solely on Magneto’s back-story would be a great idea. But, if this is all we get then so be it.
I do like that they are killing two birds with one stone. Maybe that’s something that future films could take notes from. It also shows once again that Singer knows what he is doing when it comes to comic book films.
Are you disappointed that Magneto won’t get his own film?
