Recently, the films rights to the Terminator franchise has been up for auction. It was pretty much a battle for Lionsgate and Sony over who would get the scraps rights. In a surprising twist neither won, but it was Pacificor who ended up with the rights.
Obviously both companies were upset with this news. But it seems that Sony and Lionsgate have been given an option to distribute or produce the next film.
Thanks to /Film:
“Despite the rancor in court, Sony and Lions Gate have been given an exclusive window by Pacificor to negotiate to produce and distribute the next “Terminator” movie, according to a person familiar with the talks.”
Well, this confirms that there will unfortunately be another Terminator film. Whether or not it will continue where McG left off or that it will be a reboot hasn’t been confirmed.
Although, I say its best if they continue after “Terminator: Salvation”. We spent 3 films getting to the future war and we might as well see it.
I think it is safe to say that McG WON’T be coming back, but there is still that possibility. I can tell you if he still plans on using his concept of sending HKs back in time, then I’m not even gonna consider watching that film. Seriously, T3 may have ruined continuity, but that idea would COMPLETELY destroy it.
