For years I and many others have been saying that the Terminator franchise is DEAD. The story should have ended at Terminator 2, and the TV show was canceled. Also, “Terminator: Salvation” pissed off more fans than it pleased.
Now that the franchise is in the hands of a different company, it will most likely mean that the series will take a different direction. But James Cameron says that the damage has already been done.
Thanks to Cinema Blend:
“From my perspective, it’s run its course and I don’t know what else to say that hasn’t been said. Plus, frankly… the soup’s kind of been pissed in a little bit by other filmmakers, so I don’t have any personal desire to go back to it.”
Cameron had this to say to anyone who directs Terminator 5, “I certainly wouldn’t want to be a dog in the manger and disallow my friends from making a little money off it. Why would I do that?”
He’s exactly right. The series is dead, and the idea that was proposed for Terminator 5 is just gonna piss off even more fans of the series.
Its actually rather sad if you compare greatness of the first two films to how dull the last two were. Its just sad to see something turn out great, but end up the way it has. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy T3 and T4, but compared to T1 and T2 they are complete shit.
I was actually hoping that Cameron may come back and revive this series, but it seems like that is out of the question as well.
