Bryan Singer’s departure from the X-men franchise has pretty much left the fans disappointed. And that’s an understatement considering the quality of the previous two(mostly referring to Wolverine) entries.
Well, not long ago it was reported that Singer would be returning to the franchise to direct X-Men: First Class. And not only that, but her would in some way be attached to X-Men 4 and the Wolverine 2. There’s rumor now that Singer will not be directing First Class, and that FOX is looking for others to direct the film.
Thanks to CBM:
“Exclusive: HitFix has exclusively learned, from multiple sources, that Bryan Singer may not be directing “X-Men: First Class” despite recent press reports to the contrary, and that 20th Century Fox is actively searching for directors to step in and helm the film, with discussions with at least two other filmmakers as recently as last week.”
“The filmmakers that they’re approaching now about directing “X-Men: First Class” are good names, guys who either have real experience in the comic book movie medium or who have heavy credibility with fan audiences. Names that would make fanboys happy from the first moment they’re announced. I’m curious to see who else they meet with in the next few weeks now that their first few choices have passed. Those meetings, exclusively reported by HitFix, make it seem like no matter what public face they’re putting on things, Fox is making plans as if Singer will not be free.”
Now this is just a rumor at the moment, so don’t get too worried about it.
I really hope this turns out to be just a rumor. After Wolverine I really didn’t think anything could get me interested in another X-men film, that is until it was announced Singer would be returning. I loved all of his comic book film(fuck you Superman Returns was BRILLIANT), especially his two X-men films.
If Singer doesn’t direct then I wonder who could? Oh I know who….BRETT RATNER. Okay, put you’re guns aways, it was only a joke.
Who do you want to direct if Singer doesn’t?
