There has been a lot of talk concerning the fate of the Bond franchise. Earlier this week, there were reports that the Bond franchise was dead but those were proven false and “highly overreacting.” So as of right now, the Bond franchise is “alright.”
Also Christopher Nolan has been in discussion as well, primarily concerning his upcoming “Inception” which is being hailed by early critics as “the most original idea in years” and a film that I personally am looking very forward to. And during an interview with BBC, Nolan talked about how James Bond was a inspiration for the film, and when the question came, he stated that not only would he be interested in doing James Bond, he’d love it.
“I’ve loved the Bond films since I was a kid. For me, they’re always about the expansiveness of cinema. The first Bond films set up infinite possibilities about the world they create. I’d love to do a Bond film.”
If the studio directors don’t take this direction now, I’ll will throw one of the biggest shitfits you will ever see on the internet. A Bond film directed by Nolan would be PERFECT.
Think about it, this is the guy who directed films like The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Memento, and The Prestige. He has yet to make a movie that has disappointed me. However, once MGM gets their shit together, it is rumored that Sam Mendes will return to direct. Now while Sam Mendes has certainly shown he’s a good director with his Award winners American Beauty and Revolutionary Road, I personally hope that they reconsider.
