I just recently saw the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and all I can tell you is that it was an incredible film. I have yet to see the second installment in the Millennium trilogy, but so far the original was an incredible crime film with a lot more darkness than I was expecting.
Now normally I don’t approve of remakes, especially when they are remakes of good foreign films, but I’m making an exception with this one. They’re getting David Fincher, director of Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and upcoming The Social Network, and has a cast of Daniel Craig and Robin Wright Penn. And according to /Film, now they’ve found there Lisbeth: Rooney Mara, who just recently starred in Nightmare on Elm Street and upcoming film The Social Network.
Now the woman who played Lisbeth in the original, Noomi Rapace, did an excellent job playing the character and has had some Oscar buzz surrounding her performance. Could Rooney Mara provide the same? I doubt that this interpretation will have the same affect as the original, but could it still be a great film?
